AMONG the headlines for Wednesday, 7 July, 2021, Malaysia reports another 7,097 fresh COVID-19 infections within the last 24 hours.
This is a slight drop from yesterday’s 7,654 cases.
The overall total now stands at 799,790.
Selangor remains the state with the highest number of cases at 3,119, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,005), Negri Sembilan (788), Melaka (358), Sarawak (289), Pahang (258), Sabah (244) and Johor (224).
The states that saw fewer than 200 cases are Kedah with 198, followed by Perak (187), Penang (140), Kelantan (123), Labuan (93), Terengganu (43), Putrajaya (26) and Perlis (2).
Also, Europe will see a fourth wave of coronavirus driven by the Delta variant expected to hit in September or even as early as later this month.
The strains remain a major matter of concern, even though 61.5 pct of the adult EU population have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, with 40.3 pct being fully vaccinated
