AMONG the headlines for Monday, September 13, 2021, Malaysia reports a drastic decline in daily COVID-19 cases with 16,073 in the last 24-hours.
This takes the country’s cumulative total to 1,995,771 since the pandemic began.
Sarawak leads with 3,522 infections, followed by Johor (2,030) and Selangor (1,947).
Meanwhile, Sabah registered 1,649 cases, followed by Penang (1,243), Kedah (1,191), Kelantan (1,070), Perak (1,011), Pahang (878), Terengganu (704), Kuala Lumpur (398), Melaka (206), Negri Sembilan (156), Perlis (41), Putrajaya (16) and Labuan (11).
Also, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern extended a strict lockdown in largest city Auckland as an outbreak of the delta variant of coronavirus proves difficult to vanquish.
Ardern said, Auckland will continue to remain at Alert Level 4 for at least another week while the rest of the country, which exited lockdown last week, will remain at Level 2.
