AMONG the headlines for Monday, August 30, 2021, Another 19,268 COVID-19 cases were recorded today, taking the total confirmed infections in the country to 1,725,357.
Selangor recorded 3,567 cases, Sabah 2,310, Johor 2,265, Kedah 2,084, Sarawak 2,028, Penang 1,780, Kelantan 1,308 and Perak 1,144.
Pahang recorded 788 cases, Kuala Lumpur 672, Terengganu 544, Melaka 395 and Negeri Sembilan 269.
Perlis recorded 71 cases, Putrajaya 41 and Labuan two.
Also, Moderna Inc’s COVID-19 vaccine contamination problems in Japan have widened with one million more doses being suspended, after foreign substances were found in more batches and two people died following shots from affected lots.
With new daily infections exceeding 25,000 this month for the first time amid a slow vaccine rollout, the suspension of Moderna supplies, more than 2.6 million doses in total, comes as Japan battles its worst wave of COVID-19 yet driven by the contagious Delta variant.
