AMONG the headlines for Monday, 28 June, 2021, Malaysia daily COVID-19 figure remains above 5,000 for the sixth day straight with another 5,218 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the data from the Health Ministry the nation’s cumulative tally now stands at 739,266.
Selangor still leads nationwide 1,989 infections logged, followed by Negri Sembilan (629) Kuala Lumpur (469), Sarawak (409), Perak (400), Sabah (258) and Johor (243).
Other states recorded fewer than 200 cases ; Kedah with 194, Melaka (183), Pahang (111), Labuan (108), Kelantan (101) Penang (88), Terengganu (23) Putrajaya (8) and Perlis (5).
Also, most of Bangladesh's 168 million population will remain confined to their homes until Thursday as part of the latest COVID restrictions.
The announcement has led to thousands being stranded in Bangladesh’s capital, as authorities halt almost all public transport ahead of a widespread lockdown imposed to combat the deadly resurgence of the COVID-19 infection.
