Among the headlines for Monday, January 18th, 2021, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and four others from Pejuang party, jointly filed an application seeking to be part of a constitutional court challenge regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s discretion to refuse to declare an Emergency.
Also, Samsung’s Lee Jae-yong has been sentenced to jail for 30-months over corruption charges. South Korean court found Lee, 52, guilty of bribery and embezzlement. Lee was convicted of bribing an associate of former President Park Geun-hye and jailed in 2017, however, the sentence was reduced and suspended after appeal. He was immediately taken into custody after the verdict by a court in Seoul.
