AMONG the headlines for Friday, September 10, 2021, Malaysia recorded a slight rise in COVID-19 cases to 21,176 today to take the cumulative number of infections to 1,940,950.
Leading the list is Sarawak with 3,734, followed by Selangor (3,595), Johor (2,297), Sabah (2,246), Penang (1,939), Kedah (1,808), Perak (1,366) and Kelantan (1,254).
Pahang recorded 853 cases, Terengganu (776), Melaka (485), Kuala Lumpur (467), Negri Sembilan (252), Perlis (77), Putrajaya (21), and Labuan (6).
Also, Australia's COVID-19 daily cases surged to 1,900 today for the first time in the pandemic, reporting about 1,156 people being hospitalised, with 207 in intensive care, 89 of whom require ventilation.
The rising cases in Sydney increased the load for ambulance staff, with the number of COVID-19 patients transported doubling in the last two weeks to almost 6,000.
