Police arrest five in pub brawl

The Padawan district police acted swiftly by arresting all five suspects involved in a brawl at a pub in Siburan, early Wednesday.

District police chief Supt Choo Yii Kon said the five suspects aged between 15 and 45 were arrested at their respective homes in Jalan Puncak Borneo in the afternoon and late evening.

He said the five would be taken to court on Thursday for a remand order.

In the 4am brawl, two men in their 50s were rushed to Sarawak General Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in an attack by a group of men armed with sticks and sharp objects outside the Bintang Emas Pub in Siburan.

Both the injured were from Kampung Krian, Padawan, and according to Choo, the fight broke out due to intoxication and a misunderstanding.
