Police arrest man in Kuantan for defamatory posting
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief, Datuk Dev Kumar said the man was arrested at 5pm Thursday following information provided by Sarawak CID.
A 36-year old man has been arrested in Kuantan, Pahang in connection with a Facebook posting on the late Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief, Datuk Dev Kumar said the man was arrested at 5pm Thursday following information provided by Sarawak CID.
His mobile phone has also been seized for investigation.
"A team from Kuching CID will leave for Kuantan tomorrow to escort the man back," he said in a statement here.
Dev said as of 8pm today, 37 reports have been lodged in 12 police districts against several facebook account holders for allegedly making defamatory postings or comments regarding the death of the chief minister.
"Investigation is being conducted on six of the reports," he said adding that two arrests have been made so far and the rest are being investigated.
