Attorney-General Chambers’ Appellate and Trial Division deputy chief Anthony Kevin Morais is believed to have been taken by a group of men.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said this was based on information gathered from closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings along his route from his residence in Jalan Duta to his office in Putrajaya.
“The CCTV recordings checked included his (Morais’s) own CCTV recordings,” said Zainuddin to Astro AWANI today.
He said the police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the information gathered.
The case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code.
Zainuddin also denied reports stating that Kevin Morais body has been found in Klang, Selangor.
He stressed that the reports on it were merely rumours and refused to comment further on the matter.
News of the recovery of a body believed to be that of Morais was reported on Facebook and became viral on the social media.
Morais was reported to have been missing since last Friday and on Monday, police formed a special task force, led by Zainuddin himself, to investigate the matter.
Morais was reported last seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta, Kuala Lumpur on Friday for his office in Putrajaya.
He was also reported to be driving a grey Proton Perdana with registration number WA6264Q.
