Police confirm death of collapse victim in car
Police have confirmed that they have found the body of a man in his 40s under the debris of the collapsed concrete ramp of the Second Penang Bridge at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, here.
Penang Police deputy chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the rescue team found the body in a crouching position on the driver's seat without other passengers.
"The victim's younger brother was on the way here to identify whether the body was his brother, we have received a report on missing family members from an individual in Batu Maung," he told reporters here today.
He said there was only one body found under the rubble and it was believed that no other victims were involved in the incident.
"The work to extricate the trapped body was being carried out and we have difficulties as the collapsed concrete and steel at the site had yet to be cleared," he said.
