Police confirmed that they have impounded a handphone belonging to the Batu Member of Parliament (MP), Tian Chua, at a hotel in Petaling Jaya about 8pm last night.
Kuala Lumpur CID deputy chief, Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa when contacted by Bernama today said the handphone belonging to the MP was impounded to assist in police investigation into the case under the Sedition Act.
"Further information on the case will be disclosed in a media release later by the Public Affairs (division) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPPKL)," Khairi said.
Meanwhile, commenting on the matter, Tian Chua's Political Secretary, Rozan Azen Mat Rasip said when he was approached by 10 police personnel in civilian attire, Tian Chia was meeting an acquaintance at the hotel.
"They only showed a warrant to impound the handphone but did not say for what purpose. They merely said it was for an investigation under the Sedition Act," he said when contacted.
