A policeman was charged in the Sessions Court here Thursday with two counts of soliciting bribes last year.
Corporal Sazali Hashim, 54, from the Kuah police station in Langkawi, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the charge.
He is charged with soliciting RM150 from one Mohd Asri Bulat at a roadblock at Batu Asah, Langkawi, at about 1pm on Oct 18, 2012.
The bribe was as an inducement for him to not take action against Mohd Asri for allegedly having "ketum" water in his possession and for the return of his identity card.
On another count, Sazali is charged with accepting RM150 from Mohd Asri for the return of his identification card.
The offence was allegedly committed at about 6.45pm at Restoran Selihah Seafood, Langkawi, on Oct 18, 2012.
Judge Mohd Rosli Osman allowed Sazali bail of RM2,000 on each count and set Nov 20 to hear the case.
