Police nabbed five suspects, including the mastermind, of the biggest methamphetamine distribution syndicate in the Klang Valley and seized drugs worth RM4.62 million in Ampang and Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Selangor Narcotics CID chief ACP Amran Ramli said the suspects, aged 34 to 53, were detained in a car in front of a shopping complex in Ampang Jaya at 2.30 pm.

"Police found a green plastic bag on the floor of the front passenger seat with three opaque packets containing 3.03 kg of drugs believed to besyabu. A suspect then led police to the Vista Damai Condominium, Kuala Lumpur where police found 110,950 methamphetamine pills (12.65 kg), 52,900ecstacypills (16.19kg), ketamine (0.72 kg) andsyabu(0.05 kg).

"The total value of the drugsseized includingtheAlzacar is RM4.62 million," he told a media conference, here, on Wednesday.

According to Amran, a Toyota Vellfire V6, a Toyota Vios and cash RM11,080 was also seized from the syndicate which had been active for six months in the Klang Valley.

"The suspects were believed to have obtained their supply from a northern state and we believe they also have network in other states. We are also hunting other members of the syndicate," he said.

Amran said one of the suspect had 11 previous criminal records for theft and had been detained under the Dangerous Drugs Act and Special Prevention Measures (LLPK) while another had four previous criminal records for drugs and had also been detained under LLPK.

He said all the suspects would be remanded until Jan 25 for investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provide for the death penalty, if convicted.
