Police deny Daish militant threat in KL
Previously, there was information circulating that several areas in Kuala Lumpur are being targeted by Daish for terror attacks, including Hartamas and Bangsar.
The Royal Malaysian Police has denied news that the Daish militan group is set to launch attacks at a number of areas around the federal capital.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar via Twitter advised the public to stop speculating on the security situation around Kuala Lumpur.
According to Khalid, spreading incorrect and unverified information will just create more chaos in the country.
KL police chief, Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa also told Astro AWANI that such information is untrue and inaccurate.
He said the Special Branch has not given any report on the threats.
"Actually, these claims were made viral by the public. I'm denying the claim that several areas are being targeted. The news which has gone viral is unverified.
"I urge the public that if any news has not been confirmed, please do not make it viral. The police have increased safety level in the city, especially in crowded places in Kuala Lumpur like shopping centres, entertainment venues, and we have doubled the presence of security personnel in the places mentioned earlier," said Tajuddin.
At the same time, he asked the people not to be easily influenced by such news. Instead, they should refer to the police.
Tajuddin said if any parties or individuals received such information, they should verify it with the police at the police district headquarters or police contingent headquarters.
"I also ask anyone with such information of anything untoward to forward it to the police soonest, so that the police can verify the information and take necessary action," he added.
Tajuddin was commenting on the claims that several areas in the city are being targeted for a possible attack, including Bangsar, Bukit Bintang and Hartamas.
