Police deny three Bank Negara officers investigated

He said, the police viewed this allegation seriously as investigations regarding the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) are ongoing.

He explained, investigations are currently ongoing and many people have been called to give their statement including officers from BNM and commercial banks to facilitate investigations.

“However, the three senior officers that were mentioned are not related to the investigations into this case for now,” he said.

Malaysia Today claimed that three senior BNM officers are currently being investigated by authorities for allegedly leaking confidential information to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) regarding the scandal plaguing 1MDB.

Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who runs the portal claimed in an article entitled ‘The Bank Negara Scandal, Yet Again’ on Saturday claimed these BNM officers are being investigated by the Special Task Force for allegedly leaking confidential banking information to WSJ.

BNM dismissed those claims as baseless allegations and said it would lodge a police report over the matter.

In a statement issued today, BNM also said it would investigate any unlawful acts under its jurisdiction and the central bank’s efforts have also received full support from the Special Task Force.
