Police detain 1,735 caretakers illegal gambling dens under Ops Dadu

Selangor police detained 1,739 caretakers of illegal gambling premises in the first six months of this year for operating illegal gambling activities.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said police also seized RM162,368 cash and 27,980 computer units used for illegal gambling activities during Ops Dadu from January to June.
The number of caretakers detained has increased by 98 percent compared with 877 detained during the same period last year, he said in a statement on Thursday.
Abdul Samad said over the past 12 days, starting June 29 to Wednesday, police detained 305 caretakers of cyber cafe, including 30 patrons and seized RM29,037 cash and 6,077 computer units used for illegal gambling activities after carrying out 379 raids.
Meanwhile, in Thursday's special Ops Dadu, six local men were detained at six premises involved in illegal gambling activities in Ampang Jaya.
He said 108 computer units and seven modems together with RM382 in cash were seized.
