Police detain 23 men for gambling

Twenty-three men were detained by the police during a raid at an entertainment centre in Taman AST here yesterday for suspected gambling.

Negeri Sembilan Criminal Investigation Department head ACP Nor Azman Muhammad Yusof said the suspects, in their 20s and 40s, included the caretaker of the premises.

The suspects, except the caretaker, were playing cards at a snooker table when the raid was conducted at about 5 pm, he said in a statement today.

He said nine Vietnamese women, all in their 30s and believed to be working at the entertainment centre, were also detained.

All the suspects underwent urine test for drug and four of the men tested positive for ketamine, he added.

He said the police also seized a certain amount of cash during the raid.
