Police detain lawyer Eric Paulsen

The police have detained Lawyers for Liberty executive director Eric Paulsen, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
Khalid tweeted this around 9.40pm Monday.

Lawyers For Liberty, in their Twitter account @lawyers4liberty, claimed that Paulsen was picked up by more than 20 police officers and was brought to the Lawyers For Liberty office in Section 8, Petaling Jaya for investigation.
In a subsequent tweet, Lawyers For Liberty claimed that Paulsen will be taken to the Dang Wangi police station and that they will be applying for remand.

It is believed that Paulsen was hauled up over his recent statement accusing the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) of promoting extremism through the Friday sermons.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister had called for a probe on Paulsen. UMNO Youth had also lodged a police report against the controversial lawyer.
