Police detain six men over machete attack during brawl

The police have detained six people in connection with a brawl in Jalan Masjid India here yesterday, in which a man was slashed on the head with a machete.
The suspects aged between 18 and 31 were picked up in a joint operation which also involved the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Civil Defence Force.
Apart from the 22-year-old victim, his brother and a friend were also assaulted by a group comprising 10 men in the 1.40am incident.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohd Sukri Kaman said the man with the slash wound on the head was warded at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
In a statement here today, he said one of the suspects had been on the police wanted list while two others tested positive for drugs.
Meanwhile, the police detained a 29-year-old man yesterday after he was alleged to have used pepper spray on a DBKL enforcement personnel at Medan 6 in Jalan Bunus here.
In the 12.36am incident, the victim was on duty with several other colleagues to impound stalls selling drinks in the area without licence when the suspect struck.
The DBKL personnel is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
