Police detain suspect involved in assault case on woman and daughter

Police have detained a suspect in relation to the assault of a mother and daughter who were seriously injured in Taman Harapan, Kuala Kedah last Thursday. Kedah Criminal Investigation Department head ACP Nashir Ya said the man in his 20s, was arrested at 1.30am today at Kampung Telok Kechai, Kuala Kedah. "Investigations revealed that rape was likely to be the motive of the incident, but a scuffle broke out after the victims fought back. "We have also seized a knife from the suspect," he said in a statement here today. He said the suspect would be in remand until Saturday under Section 459 of the Penal Code. In the incident, Adriana Ahmad Kamil, 45, and her daughter Amira Asshari, 22, sustained multiple stab and slash wounds on their hands and body after they were attacked by a man who broke into their home.
