Two men, including a 'tonto' (a look-out thug) who were involved in crashing a vehicle into a state customs department multi-purpose vehicle in Padang Besar on Oct 9, were detained by the police on Monday.
Perlis police chief, SAC Shafie Ismail said a police team picked up one of the suspects who was driving a Proton Perdana and the 'tonto' who drove a pick-up truck to facilitate investigations.
The suspects, aged 36 and 24, were detained at the Thai immigration and customs quarantine complex (ICQ) after crossing the Padang Besar ICQ complex at 6.15pm on Monday.
"We are looking for two more pick-up drivers and their five accomplices whom we believe had fled with smuggled beer to avoid arrest," said Shafie.
He said the Proton Perdana was found abandoned in Kampung Sanglang, Kedah near the Perlis border while the empty pick-up truck was found in Kampung Wang Lembu in Semadong, Beseri near here.
