The police view the spreading of unverified news about Daish militants attacking KL seriously because it creates tension and fear among people.
The Royal Malaysian Police have never issued a statement revealing the specific sites in the federal capital targeted by terrorists.
Bukit Aman police headquarters corporate communications head, Datin Asmawati Ahmad in a statement said, the police view the spreading of such news seriously because it creates tension and fear among people.
She said, the press statement by the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Jan 15 just mentioned that the police would improve supervision and security at public areas to ensure public safety.

"The public are advised not to easily believe and stop from sharing the news which may raise concerns, especially those not issued by national security agencies," she said.
She added that the increase of police officers at public areas was intended to provide assurance to the public.
Earlier today, trending on social media were specific locations apparently targeted by Daish militants to carry out attacks in Malaysia.
The areas, which are popular shopping and tourist spots, included The Curve Damansara, Solaris Dutamas, Bukit Bintang and Bangsar.
