Kedah police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said the support and growth of Daish militant ideology in the country has become a worrying trend following several Kedahans to be involved in such activity.
The latest, he said, were the arrest of Kedahans among the 11 for the Puchong bomb attack on June 28.
He said Kedah has been identified as one of the locations to spread the militant ideology and to actively recruit new members.
Zamri who admitted that this was a herculean task for the police said they will work closely with Bukit Aman to curb the ideology.
He said police will have to move quickly in identifying and addressing the problem as it has become severe with many Malaysians recruited willing to become suicide bombers.
He also said that the Internet and online media will be subjected to constant monitoring by the police.
So far, 192 people suspected to be involved with Daish militancy have been made throughout the country.
Out of that, 75 are Kedahans.
