Police identifying more suspects in Damansara Perdana bomb case

Selangor and Kuala Lumpur police are liaising to identify several suspects linked to the discovery of seven bombs at a condominium in Damansara Perdana early Sunday.
Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the police were in the midst of tracking down a suspect with previous criminal records in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
He said this at a media conference after a handing-over of duties ceremony involving the Kajang police chief at the district police headquarters here Monday.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the homemade bombs found were not related to the Daish militant group or other terrorist groups.
"We believe they were not linked to Daish or any other terrorist group but more related to drug trafficking and money-lending activities," he told a media conference after a monthly assembly of police departments in Bukit Aman Monday.
Khalid said the police had identified some of them as local drug traffickers.
In a police raid at a condominium in Damansara Perdana at 4.30am Sunday, a suspect, identified only as 'Ah Chong' managed to escape.
The police found seven bombs in the form of firecrackers with electronic devices, as well as two kilogrammes of drugs believed to be syabu (methamphetamine) and some Erimin 5 pills.
Initial police investigations revealed the suspect was involved in assault and arson cases in Sri Petaling about 1.30am Monday.
