The police will send an officer to Thailand soon to record the testimony of Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo, who has been convicted of attempted extortion, over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad issue, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
He said Malaysian police had obtained approval from Thai police to meet the former executive of PetroSaudi International Ltd.
"We secured the approval of the Thai police to interview Justo last week. We are discussing with the Thai side on the date for the interview. We will send an officer soon," he told reporters on the sidelines of the 4th General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition and Conference Asia 2015 here.
Justo, 49, is serving a three-year jail sentence after having been found guilty by a Thai court on Aug 17 of attempting to extort his employer, PetroSaudi.
His case drew interest in Malaysia due to cooperation between PetroSaudi and 1MDB.
