Police have kick-start investigations over claims that Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming had insulted Muslims in a mocking Aidilfitri message on his Facebook last Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said several police reports have been lodged over the matter.
"We have started investigations under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Sedition Act 1948. We will investigate if it was Nga who uploaded the entry.
"I also urge everyone to be wary when making sensitive," he told reporters at the Aidilfitri open house of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Sri Satria here today.
He said the entry of Nga's Facebook page was insulting towards Islam.
"It is not something that should be done by someone who holds a Yang Berhormat title in a multiracial country," Khalid added.
Section 298A of the Penal Code is for "causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will, or prejudicing… the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion."
