Police investigate Nurul Izzah over photo insulting Najib
The Lembah Pantai MP had, about a month ago, uploaded a photo of Datuk Seri Najib Razak depicted as a clown.
The police on Monday called up Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar concerning a photograph uploaded in her Instagram account which is alleged to have insulted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Bukit Aman CID Deputy Director, Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the Lembah Pantai MP was called up to give a statement at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD), here today.
"Nurul Izzah is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act," he said when contacted by Bernama.
Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah when approached at the Petaling Jaya IPD grounds, here said she was called up by the police to give a statement on the photograph of a clown uploaded in her Instagram account a month ago.
The recording of the interview lasted more than an hour beginning at 2.30pm.
The picture was drawn by activist, Fahmi Reza before being uploaded into Nurul Izzah's instagram account.
