GOH: The campaign was running smoothly and more applications were expected.
The police have issued 21 permits for political speeches to the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election candidates as of Wednesday.
Hilir Perak police chief ACP Goh Kok Liang said the permits were applied by the two contesting parties, namely the Barisan Nasional (BN) and DAP.
He told reporters here today that the campaign was running smoothly and more applications were expected.
There is a straight fight between BN candidate Datuk Mah Siew Keong and DAP's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud for the Teluk Intan Parliamentary seat.
Early voting would be held on May 27, while polling is on May 31.
Goh said police received eight boxes of ballot papers on Monday which were being stored according to the Election Commission standard operating procedures.
