Police launch manhunt for suspects who slashed policeman
Police have launched a manhunt for the duo who made their getaway in a Proton Waja. -Filepix
A police lance corporal was seriously hurt when he was attacked by two masked men who were armed with machetes at a house in Jalan Rahmat, Kampung Beris Lampu, Kuala Besut, near here, Thursday.
Tengku Mohd Nafeery Tengku Ramli@Tuan Arifin, 41, who was slashed on his body, head, legs and hands was rushed to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, after the 10.30pm attack.
Besut District Police chief Supt Khaled Che Lah said police have launched a manhunt for the duo who made their getaway in a Proton Waja.
"The victim, who was off duty, was resting on a sofa in his friend's living room when the two masked men rushed in and started slashing him with machetes before fleeing the scene," he told a media conference here, today.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack on Tengku Mohd Nafeery, who is stationed at the Kampung Raja Police Station, said Khaled.
