Police looking for 'Mat Yeh' to assist investigations into death of customs officer

Kelantan police are looking for a suspect known as 'Mat Yeh' to assist investigations into the death of a Customs Department officer in Pasir Mas on Oct 7.

Kelantan deputy police chief SAC Din Ahmad said the 34-year-old suspect was from Kampung Bukit Lata, Pasir Mas.

"Investigations revealed that the suspect's house was empty," he said at the Kelantan police headquarters, here today.

In the 1.20am incident last Friday in Kampung Banggol Chica, Pasir Mas, the suspects rammed their vehicle into the rear of the car carrying senior Customs officer Anisah Ali, 54 and two other male officers.

Anisah was rushed to the Pasir Mas Hospital before being referred to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital here for further treatment but remained in a coma before succumbing to her injuries a day later.

The Customs car was in pursuit of two vans believed to be smuggling cigarettes when a four wheel-drive driven by a ‘tonto’ (thug) rammed into the vehicle. -- BERNAMA
