Police monitoring cyclists who violate SOPs
Their lack of discipline to adhere to the SOPs may end up with them being issued compounds, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said.
KUALA LUMPUR:Despite the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), a handful of cyclists seem unconcerned about the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by hanging out in groups around the capital.
Their lack of discipline to adhere to the SOPs may end up with them being issued compounds, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said.
He said their activities were detected around Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Merbok.
He said according to MCO 2.0 SOPs issued by the National Security Council (MKN) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), cycling activities were only allowed to be conducted alone and not beyond the 10 km radius of the cyclist's residence.
"Cycling in groups is not permitted although cyclists leave their homes alone," he said in a statement today.
He added so far no compounds have been issued to cyclists who violated SOPs.
"We are monitoring SOP violations and if they continue to occur, compounds will be issued," he said.
