Police nabbed three individuals suspected to have acted as fake road tax middlemen for a syndicate involved in falsifying government documents, at Kampung Rapat Simpang Pulai here, yesterday.
Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Lee Ewe Kiang said RM4,700 cash and three fake road tax stickers were also seized from the suspects.
"Police are in the process of getting a remand order on the three men," he said in a statement here today.
He said the trio were suspected to have worked with five members of a syndicate dubbed 'Geng Tuah'.
The five syndicate members who were apprehended on Friday and Sunday were believed to have been active for several years in falsifying identity cards, driving licences, road tax stickers and registration declarations for cloned or stolen cars.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum 10 years jail and whipping and liable to a fine, on conviction.
