Police nab 'Rizal Kundang' gang mastermind

The police have detained the suspected mastermind of the 'Rizal Kundang' gang which was wanted for several robberies, at Desa Coalfields near here Thursday evening, following a car chase.
Earlier, the 40-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by a police team which fired several shots at the getaway car near a convenience store when he refused to heed police orders to stop.
He was detained to facilitate investigations into several robberies in Kuala Selangor, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Sungai Buloh.
Sungai Buloh police chief, Supt Dr Abdul Aziz Awang Darus said the police were in the midst of tracking down the suspect's three accomplices who had gone into hiding.
He said from the car, believed to have been stolen, the police seized three machetes and a crowbar in the front passenger seat.
According to Abdul Aziz, at the height of the chase about 6pm, the suspected mastermind had stopped the car to enable an accomplice to flee before speeding off, with the police in pursuit. -- BERNAMA
