The police have routed a gang linked to drug trafficking activities with the arrest of its suspected leader on Sunday night.

The 20-year-old mechanic who headed the 'Pasir Panjang Gang' was nabbed in Kampung Pasir Panjang at 10.45pm.

Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Idris Abd Rafar said the police found eight blue plastic packets on the suspect, believed to contain 1,600 pills containing psychotropic drug and weighing 160 grammes.

"Upon inspecting the suspect's home, the police found RM3,410, believed to be from the sale of drugs," he told reporters here on Monday.

He said the suspect - wanted in connection with drug trafficking activities in Pasir Panjang, Manir and Chabang Tiga - was remanded for six days to facilitate investigations.
