Police nabs MACC officer in Machang Bubok for alleged extortion

Police detained a Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) Putrajaya officer for allegedly extorting and demanding money from a police officer.
The 37-year-old man was arrested at a restaurant in Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam at 10.15pm last night.
Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief Asisstant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Abd Hamid said the suspect is believed to have demanded money from policemen to protect gambling activities.
It is understood that the suspect had demanded that the policeman pays him RM3,000 every month to avoid being arrested by the MACC.
Police also confiscated several items from the suspect including MACC authority card, cash worth RM3,000 a Volkswagen Polo sedan car and handphone.
Nik Ros Azhan said the suspect will be remanded today to assist investigation.
Case is being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.
