Police confirmed that they did not receive any report regarding the bullying case of a navy cadet from Malaysian National Defence University (UPNM), who died last week.
Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said police only received the report of the death of Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnin, 21, after the victim had died at the Serdang Hospital last Thursday.
“As I have mentioned before, we will contact anyone who we think has relations to the case and could help with the investigations. We are working on those who have been contacted and those who will be contacted next.
“He was accused by his friends of stealing a laptop from one of the students. We have yet to receive any report on the bullying, but if there are parties who wish to lodge a report on it, we will leave no stone unturned. The university can take internal actions which is entirely up to them,” he said today.
Abdul Samah said police had not received a report on the loss of a laptop which was believed to be the reason for the bullying incident.
Previously, a student reportedly told the victim’s family that Zulfarhan was beaten by several suspects after a bomoh had allegedly pinpointed him as the culprit behind the theft.
Zulfarhan's remains had burnt marks on his chest and limbs believed to be from a steam iron.
Thirty six people -- 32 UPNM students and four Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) students -- have been remanded to assist in the investigation.
Their remand will end this Friday.
