Police: No riot in Betong
The situation in Betong is calm and safe. Police have denied that a riot had taken place there as rumoured.
Betong OCPD DSP Wan Zaizodin Wan Jaafar said, the situation was under control following the incident on Saturday when an Indonesian worker of an estate, 300km from here, was shot dead when he attacked policemen trying to calm him down after he ran amok and injured a friend.
"I seek the people's cooperation not to spread rumours that a riot had taken place. That is just an assumption," he said when contacted.
Wan Zaizodin said policemen had been deployed in the area to monitor the situation.
In the incident, an Indonesian worker of Ladang Raja Udang, Pusa, was shot dead when he attacked policemen trying to calm him down after he ran amok and injured a friend.
