Police open inquiry paper over viral insulting banners in Ipoh

Ipoh Police chief said the team was informed about the second banner with words 'rakyat jaga rakyat, menteri jaga poket' allegedly hung at the Perak Stadium food court a little after midnight.
IPOH: The police have opened an investigation under the Police Inquiry Paper regarding the viral of insulting banners related to the current situation of COVID-19 put up in two locations here yesterday.
Ipoh Police chief ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said they were informed of the first viral banner, which allegedly used the F-word and hung from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun’s pedestrian bridge here, at 9 pm.
He said a team of policemen were rushed to the scene but found no such banner.
“Upon search in the area, they found a white banner with insulting words written in red and black in a rubbish bin at the bus stop in Jalan Raja Ashman Shah heading to Angsana Mall,” he said in a statement here today.
Asmadi said the team was informed about the second banner with words 'rakyat jaga rakyat, menteri jaga poket' (people look after people, ministers look after their pockets) allegedly hung at the Perak Stadium food court a little after midnight.
“When they arrived at the location, there was no banner and the search around the area resulted in no such banner being found,” he said, adding that there was no closed-circuit television camera in both areas and no eyewitness has come forward so far to facilitate in the investigation so far.
