Police opens investigation paper on portal journo

Sarawak police have opened an investigation paper on a portal journalist over a news report that could allegedly disturb public order in the state.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Dev Kumar M.M. Sree Shunmugam said the case was being investigated under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"Six police reports have been lodged on the article said to have been written by the news portal journalist.

"We will call the journalist to facilitate investigations," he told Bernama when contacted here today.

BN candidate for Nangka, Dr Annuar Rapaee had reportedly expressed his regret over the article in Malaysiakini, which allegedly twisted what he had said in a speech in Sibu.
