Police: Papa Gomo is former policeman
The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has confirmed that Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, who is highly speculated to be the infamous blogger ‘Papa Gomo’, is a former police personnel.
In a statement published on PDRM’s Facebook page, Bukit Aman management director Mortadza Nazarene said the Wan Muhammad Azri held the constable position for two years.
“He worked in the Ampang Jaya district police office between July 1, 2002 to Nov 30, 2004.
“On Oct 31, 2005, he was charged in the Ampang Jaya Sessions Court for a criminal offence. He was convicted on Sept 6, 2012 and was sentenced,” he said.
Mortadza also said that Wan Muhammad Azri was sacked from the police force on the same day. “He is no longer listed in PDRM’s record as a postal voter,” he said.
On March 16, Papa Gomo, in his blog, published a single black-and-white photograph showing the naked back of a man, purportedly Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in a room.
The post also provided a link to another blog page called “Aksi si Raja Goyang”, which published 13 photographs showing two men groping and kissing each other, purportedly screen grabs of a video. In response, Anwar filed a RM100 million defamation suit against Papagomo.
On March 22, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli had exposed that Papagomo is a former policeman convicted of bribery and an alleged “phantom voter” registered to vote in two different locations.
