The Royal Malaysia Police plans to record a statement from British paedophile Richard Huckle to get details on the Malaysian victims.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said, police encountered problem to obtain further information and cooperation from the British authorities.
"Initially, the police were only informed about Huckle in 2014 but there were no further details given. They only informed that Huckle was suspected to have been involved in paedophile activities.
"Since then, police were trying to get more information from them (the British authorities) but the case was still on trial and so more information could not be given.
"When this had happened (new development on the case), then a lot of questions arose. So far, two victims have been identified and police will continue cooperating with the British authorities to identify other victims," Khalid said.
He was speaking to reporters after opening the 81st annual general meeting of the Royal Malaysia Police Cooperative here.
He added that the police would welcome it if the law relating to sexual crimes and child pornography is restructured.
Asked whether the police have statistics regarding paedophiles in Malaysia, Khalid said they are actively monitoring websites and accounts that are used to share pornographic video.
He also called on the parents involved in this issue to come forward and cooperate with the police to ensure the problem could be eradicated.
"In this case, there is no need to feel embarrassed or hide anything. Our children are the victims of such a crime. If (we) do not come forward, we will fail in combating this disgusting act.
"Maybe there will be non-governmental organisations coming forward after this to tip-off the police on the case," he said.
