Three news portal journalists from Malaysiakini and The Star Online were questioned by the police today over alleged defamatory reports on the transfer of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the questioning was done to facilitate further investigation into the case.
"Two of them are Malaysiakini journalists, and the other is from The Star Online.
"The raid on their offices was done at between 2 pm and 4.30 pm before they left the premises," he told Bernama when contacted here today.
He said the police also seized a laptop computer, one central processing unit (CPU), a pendrive and several copies of documents related to the case.
"The seized items will be taken to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) forensic unit for analysis," he said.
Last Friday, the offices of Malaysiakini and The Star were also raided by the police and MCMC over a report on the transfer of a deputy public prosecutor attached to the MACC.
The raid was conducted following a report lodged by an officer from the Attorney-General's Chambers on Nov 3.
