Police ready to face 13th GE
The police is ready to face the coming 13th general election, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong said today.
He said the force had made the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth election process.
"The police are on stand-by and ready to be mobilised at any time should the government dissolves parliament to ensure public order and peace is maintained.
"The police will also cooperate with the Election commission to ensure the (election) process is smooth," he told reporters after launching the state-level "Gelombang Kedamaian 1KDN" gathering here today.
He said that according to normal procedures, police would set up tactical headquarters in all states during the election period.
On the Home Ministry's Young Squad, Lee said it now had 1.14 million members, including 54,864 members in Negeri Sembilan.
The members comprise volunteers in agencies under the ministry, like the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), Malaysian Civil Defence Department, National Anti-Drug Agency, Prisons Department and the Undergraduate Volunteer Police Corps (SukSis).
