KUALA LUMPUR: Police received a report on odour pollution due to oil spills in the riverbed near Jalan KB1 / 10 in Kampung Baru Balakong, Kajang.
According to the Head of the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Fadzil Ahmat, the report was made by an officer of the Selangor Department of Environment (DOE), on Tuesday.
"The complainant made an inspection in the area and found that black oil was floating on the surface of the waterway from the residential area to the river and suspected it was an act of sabotage.
"JSJ Selangor has gone to the scene with three other agencies, namely the National Service Commission (SPAN), Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS) and Indah Water Konsortium (IWK).
"Several samples of oil mixed with water were taken to test the contents for investigation and prosecution," he said in a statement today.
Commenting further, Fadzil said, the case was being investigated by JSJ Selangor under Section 430 of the Penal Code.
In a related development, Fadzil stated, JSJ Selangor had held a meeting with several enforcement agencies on the water issue on October 20.
"We agree to conduct investigations and actions in an integrated manner to ensure that enforcement, investigation and prosecution can be made as a whole, for the benefit and welfare of the people of Selangor in particular," he said.
