Police record statement from Khairul Azwan over conspiracy allegation

The police have recorded a statement from UMNO Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun over a police report he made alleging conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the government.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police recorded the statement from Khairul Azwan at the Bukit Aman Police headquarters here today.

"Yes, we recorded a statement from him (Khairul Azwan) this morning, and the investigation on the matter continues," he told Bernama when contacted.

Last Tuesday, Khairul Azwan lodged a police report against former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, former Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.

In the report, made at the Dang Wangi District Police headquarters, Khairul Azwan alleged that the three people were suspected to be involved in a conspiracy to topple Najib and the government.
