Police will duly record statements from the parents of three-year-old Nawal Iris Samsudin who died of heat stroke on Thursday after being left in a car for more than five hours at a school parking lot in Subang Jaya.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said police had not summoned the couple as they were still in trauma over the incident.
"The case is being investigated under Section 33 of the Child Act 2001 (leaving a child without reasonable supervision), which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or two years' jail, or both, upon conviction," he told Bernama today.
