Police to reduce public anxiety on crime

The police is targetting to reduce public anxiety on crime to a level of 24 per cent per cent compared with 50 per cent currently, through implementation of the second phase of the National Key Result Area (NKRA) on crime next year.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the police were aware that the public still feared for their safety despite the drop in crime rate and an international peace report indicating that Malaysia is a safe place.

"The effort now is to change the people's perception on security," he told reporters after the presentation of awards to winners of the Balai League Table (BLT) competition at the Subang Jaya District Police headquarters here.

At the function, the following police stations were named Best Police Stations and were rewarded with cash incentives.

The were Lahad Datu police station in Sabah; Menglembu( Ipoh); Batang Kali, (Hulu Selangor); Bandar Dato' Onn (Johor Baharu Selatan); Pandamaran (Klang Selatan); Kuala Pilah ( Negeri Sembilan); Tambun (Ipoh); Kota (Rembau), Petaling (Brickfields); Wangsa Maju (Sentul) and USJ 8 police station (Subang Jaya).
