Police release name, photograph of suspected mastermind in Najadi killling
Police have released the name and photograph of a businessman who allegedly masterminded the high-profile murder of Arab-Malaysian Development Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi in July this year.
He has been identified as Lim Yuen Soo, 53, a Malaysian, who went into hiding in Australia after the killing, and attempted murder of a woman, believed to be the victim's widow.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the fugitive's last known address was at No: 9, Jalan Bayu Segar 3, Bayu Segar Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.
"With the release of the suspect's identity and photograph, we hope those who know the man's whereabouts would contact us to facilitate investigations.
"We have also sought assistance from the Interpol branch in Australia to arrest the suspect to enable us to bring the man to Malaysia to face justice," he said.
"Initial police investigations revealed that the fugitive was involved in the entertainment business and owned several parking areas in the city," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters today.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah had, on Oct 1, said the suspected mastermind behind Hussain Ahmad's murder had gone into hiding in Australia.
On Sept 22, the main suspect in the killing was arrested, together with two suspected accomplices, during a raid at a house in Taiping, Perak. On Oct 3, the man was charged with murder at a magistrate's court.
On July 29, a gunman shot dead Ahmad Hussain, 75, at close range and seriously injured a woman, believed to be his wife, at a parking area after they emerged from the Kuan Yin Temple in Lorong Ceylon.
Commenting on the missing murder weapon which was believed to have been thrown in a lake at The Mines, Mohmad said the police were continuing with their search after scouring the lake on Sept 30.
