KUALA LUMPUR: Ampang Jaya police have released the image of the second suspect in connection with the attempted murder of two policemen in Taman Lembah Maju, Pandan Indah on Friday.
Its chief ACP Khairuldin Saad said the image was obtained from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera fitted at a shop near the scene of the shooting.
“The suspect is believed to be in his early 30s and had escaped as soon as his friend, who is also the prime suspect, fired three shots at the policemen,” he said during a press conference at Ampang Jaya Police Headquarters on Monday.
Police have so far recorded the statements from three witnesses.
“The suspect is believed to have used a .38 caliber pistol in the shooting incident and police have successfully lifted 13 fingerprints from the motorcycle and helmets used by the suspects. Checks in the National Registration Department (NRD) and police database have not turned up any names,” he added.
The motorcycle used in the incident was also found to have been reported missing in Setapak last year.
“We believe the suspects belong to a secret society,” Khairuldin said.
In the 10.30am incident on Friday, Lance Corporal Lional Richard Jr, 26, and Constable Zullfadzly Atlah, 28, were patrolling the area when they were shot by the two men on a motorcycle.
Richard was shot twice in the abdomen while Zullfadzly was shot in the crotch area.
Richard is now in stable condition after a surgery at the Ampang Hospital was conducted to remove a bullet in his stomach. He is expected to be discharged later today.
Anyone with any information on the suspects or incident have been urged to contact the nearest police station.
