Kuala Lumpur police have revealed an image of the suspects allegedly involved in the hand grenade incident in front of a nightclub at Sun Complex in Bukit Bintang on October 9.
City police chief, Datuk Tajudin Md Isa said the image is based on a closed-circuit TV recording (CCTV) at the site.
According to Tajudin, the CCTV recording showed that two men involved in the incident hurled the hand grenade to a group of the club patrons.
The two suspects, he added, were seen running to a black Proton Perdana parked in the vicinity.
“Police have referred the CCTV recording to the Royal Malaysian Police forensic experts and summoned a professional artist to sketch the image of one of the suspects.
“Police believed that the image of the man is in his 40s,” said Tajudin at a Press conference held at the Kuala Lumpur Police headquarters here today.
Police had apologised for taking time to identify the suspects due to the vague CCTV image.
He said that at present, five Malaysians aged between 25 and 46 have been arrested under Session 117 Crime Act to assist in investigation.
In the Oct 9 bombing, a car jockey Tiong Kwong Yie, 36 died and 12 others including a tourist believed to be linked to territorial dispute by underground triads in the area.
Police urged the public with information of the suspects to call the D9 Special Division through the hotline number at 03-21400685
